ADVENT OPEN HOUSE

The Open House Zagreb Festival has been promoting Zagreb's most attractive architectural works since October 2023, enabling citizens to meet with architects, builders, investors and building owners. The festival encourages reflection on the values ​​of the city and the role of residents in its creation, and guides them to advocate for a well-designed and planned built environment. It also includes reflections on how architecture deals with ecological, social and economic sustainability. As part of a global network of festivals, the concept of which was conceived by Victoria Thornton in 1992 in London to encourage a better understanding of architecture, OHZ focuses on the direct experience of architecture from the perspective of the buildings themselves, with opportunities for learning, discussion and debate with experts and building owners. The basic desire of the project is to present visitors with live architectural achievements together with the experiences of architects, investors and users, and to open the doors of so-called " architecture", public spaces and residential buildings over the course of several days. Encouraged by the exceptionally good reception of the three seasons of the Zagreb Open House Festival, during the Advent Zagreb program this December, we will offer the numerous tourists who come to Zagreb precisely for this event the opportunity to visit some of the buildings (residential, business and religious buildings, cultural institutions, urban areas, etc.) that are examples of heritage and contemporary architecture. We will provide them with an expert guide in English and Croatian, insight into attractive information about the city's urban planning, as well as a tour of residential and business buildings and cultural institutions that have not been accessible to our public until now. This would add another program element to the rich Advent offer in the city of Zagreb.
